South China Sea Introduction : Location: South China Sea is a small body of water of the western Pacific Ocean in Southeast Asia. It is located in the South of China (that's why called South China Sea), east and south of Vietnam, west of the Philippines and North of the Island of Borneo. It is bounded by the southern part of the Gulf of Thailand and east coast of the Malay. Area : It covers 6 km² area, composed of 3.5 milllion sq km patch of water. Islands : It consist of about 250 tiny and low Islands. Southeast Asia History : In 1421, Zheng He (a Chinese explorer and mariner) prepared the "Zheng He's Navigation Map", which included South China Sea Islands.
